Goldene Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP (Goldene Parteiabzeichen)
Identification and research of recipients who were awarded numbered
badges. The recipient's NSDAP Mitglied-Nr. (membership number) is on
the reverse side of the badge. I maintain and constantly update a
database of approximately 17,000 identified recipients of the
Goldene Ehrenzeichen. The estimated total of number of badges is
approximately 22,000 or higher. Collectors will tell you that I
provide the best chance to identify the recipient of a badge. If I
cannot identify the recipient for you, the number will be retained
and periodically re-checked against my database. You will be
contacted whenever I identify the recipient. If you decide to sell
the badge before the recipient is identified, retain the address of
the new owner. You may be able to make an additional profit after I
contact you. During your collecting activities, maybe you or someone
you know has compiled a list of badge numbers and/or recipients. I
am always glad to receive a list, or a photograph of a badge or
Besitzurkunde (award document). |

Totenkopfring der SS (SS-Ehrenring)
In addition to the engraved signature of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich
Himmler's signature, a Totenkopfring (Death's Head Ring or Honor
Ring) has a date and the last name of the recipient. So how is it
possible to identify the original owner of a ring if you only have a
last name? One method is to consult the Dienstaltersliste der
Schutzstaffel (SS-DAL), an SS officer seniority list published
frequently from 1934 through 1944, which made use of a small ring
icon to identify Totenkopfring recipients. From 1934 through 1938
one comprehensive list was published each year, sometimes including
an addenda. After 1938, the ranks of SS-Untersturmführer (SS Second
Lieutenant), SS-Obersturmführer (SS First Lieutenant), and SS-Hauptsturmführer
(SS Captian) were no longer included in the SS-DAL, with the
exception of a 1944 Waffen-SS DAL that included the rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer
(SS Captain). These three ranks account for the largest portion of
the SS-Führerkorps. Failure to understand the inherent limitations
of the Dienstaltersliste as a tool for identifying SS officers could
result in an incorrect identification. In most cases, the
identification process requires examination of SS officer personnel
files.
